Galen Hall Golf Club has a rich history stretching back to1910, and has changed hands several times in the nearly 100 year period. In 2006 the property went up for sale after the previous owner's passing. The sale offer implied that the property would be a prime opportunity for housing development, which naturally would have meant an end to the Galen Hall Golf Club.
Fortunately, for golfers and lovers of open spaces, the current owners bought the existing property together with an adjacent 11 1/2 acre plot of land in order to add a driving range. The new owners, Brian R. Stiefel, Fred A. Fisher, and Robert A. Fisher, are committed to preserving the rich heritage of the course and also to making improvements to the existing grounds and facilities. The goal is to make Galen Hall Golf Club the premier Golf Club in Berks County. The plan is to invest one to two million dollars into the course, the clubhouse, and the Galen Hall Chalet over the course of the next several years.
One common thread unites the new owners—a real love of the game, and the goal of taking a great course with a rich history, preserving it for the people of Berks County and beyond, and improving the experience for those who are our members and our regular players. If you have not had the pleasure of playing Galen Hall, come on out and see what you have been missing!
